Resolved Question: Can I program my old remote for my new Comcast digital adapter?

I just had to install and activate some digital adapters on my tv's to keep up with Comcast's new digital network. Other than losing lots of features on my Vizio tv, I haven't noticed any difference in picture quality. But anyway the remote I now have to use is atrocious, and I'll still need my old remote to do literally everything other than changing the channel, so I'm wondering if it's even possible to program the remote for the cable box? It's the kind of system where the tv itself has to stay on channel 3 and the tv signal is basically streaming and changing the channel is like changing the feed source, so I can tell it's gonna be a pain to have to keep track of two remotes....
